I Am Free

Lately I've been thinking a lot about freedom. There's been a lot of talk about freedom of speech, freedom in of actions, religions, and so on, but what's been popping out to me a lot lately is the freedom we have in Jesus.

Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you...and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” All of us have our own problems in life, but why do we have to take them so seriously? We are free in Jesus Christ. He loves us so deeply and so richly, so why are we so negative?

We as Christians are the lights of the world. I think this Thanksgiving, when we're making our "What I'm Thankful For" lists, Jesus should be on the very top. Because of Him, we are free to love. Free to LIVE. Free to influence others with our joy that comes from Him. No one can be smiling and happy all the time, but maybe if we smiled a little bit more, complained a little bit less, thanked God for all the many things we have to be thankful for, and realized that Jesus Christ has made us free, the world would be a brighter place. Little by little, the world would see the joy of God shining in us. So when you feel the cares of the world pulling you down, remember...you are free.

I am free to run, I am free to dance, I am free to live for you, I am free!
